November 15 Editorial
Rumours of Fantastic Metropolis collapsing in brilliant ruins have, I’m happy to say, been greatly exaggerated. In fact this site is still very much as active as it ever was and we are already expanding it. The explanation is simple and familiar. Gabe has temporarily had to give up editorship and a consortium of experienced editors including Zoran Zivkovic, Jeff VanderMeer and myself have joined with equally experienced and enthusiastic Luís Rodrigues to maintain the momentum and vitality which made Gabe’s site one of the very best there is. When Gabe gets back, we hope he’ll be happy with what we’ve done. We are still accepting contributions and actively commissioning material.
We formed this caretaker consortium because we support Gabe’s aims and attitudes and believe his editorial policy reflects our own approach. We believe fantasy can be a mirror to reality, equal to the best classic and modernist fiction. We also enjoy the pleasures of visionary eloquence and original imagination and will continue to celebrate them here.
